Game of the Day 6-22-10

Game of the Day: New York 10 - Philadelphia 9

Things that make Managers Crazy: Hick Meacham & Sun Martin had a 9th Inning that will haunt them. Meacham comes in with a 5-run lead and quickly gives a hit, then walks the next three batters. Line for Meacham is ugly zero innings pitched, 1 hit, 3 walks and 4 earned runs.
The teams closer Sun Martin enters the game with no-outs and the bases loaded. Keep this in mind Martin hasn’t blown a save all year. He get’s his first batter out on a line drive. Then Bruce Arnold hits a hard shot that hits the top of the right-center field fence and fall on the other side for a game tying Grand Slam. A nice strikeout followed then Bing Kolb sends the fans in New York happy with a line drive homerun that barely makes it over the fence. Line for Martin is ugly as well, .2 of an inning, 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 homeruns.

New York Power Surge: “The team is relaxed and swinging at good pitches,” coneheads said about his team, “I told them before the season to relax and let whatever happens, happens.” Seems to be working out just fine for the offense but maybe he needs to have a talk with the pitching staff.
