Santa Cruz gets Poole in deal with Tampa Bay

USMLBAP: Santa Cruz sent veteran shortstop Bryan Poole to Tampa Bay, today, in exchange for minor league second basemen Bunny Perkins, in what is believed to be a salary cap move. Santa Cruz will assume the remainder of Poole's contract this season.

Poole started out the season in AAA ball and was called up earlier in the month. Since making his way back to the big leagues, Pool is hitting .280 with a home run and 15 RBI in 75 plate appearances.

Perkins has been in the AA level for his third season, and it's evident that his growth is starting to hit it's peak on that level. He's currently hitting .284 for Santa Cruz's AA team. He has a career .313 average in the minors and will most likely be playing in AAA once he makes his way to Tampa Bay.

Power Rankings Week 4 (Season 7)

THE ELITE TEAMS

1. Houston Hitmen (48-19) (Previous Week – 1)(Points = 109.38)
The Hitmen remained in the top stop but it really looks like the crowd behind them are catching up. The team went 11-9 during the week scoring 111 runs for a 5.55 runs a game average while giving up 103 runs for a 5.15 runs a gave average. The Hitmen for the season are scoring 6.70 runs per game, the best in the league, while giving up 4.51 runs per game. In a big series against Atlanta earlier in the week, the Hitmen got got sweep and only scoring 3 runs during the three game series but I like the way they have responded since the sweep going 5-3 and only scoing less then 5 runs twice.

2. Monterrey Stars (43-23) (Previous Week – 3)(Points = 101.39)
The Stars moved up one spot this week and is beginning to put the pressue on the Hitmen for the top spot. The team went 12-6 during the week of the season scoring 106 for a 5.89 runs per game while giving up 74 runs for a 4.11 runs per game average. The Stars for the season is scoring 5.68 runs per game, while giving up 3.76 runs per game. The Stars are right now in a big series with the Brave Vawts which the two teams are dead even with 2 wins a piece with two more games to go.

3. Milwaukee Bucks (44-22) (Previous Week – 2)(Points = 97.59)
The Bucks fell one spot this week but the team still has the best record in the National League. The team went 12-6 during the week scoring 104 for a 5.78 runs per game average while giving up 93 runs for a 5.17 runs per game average. The Bucks for the season is scoring 6.28 runs per game while giving up 4.62 runs per game. The Bucks are really play great now now and after the last week of playing teams that are a combined record of 247-217 and only losing 6 games proves that the Bucks will be real tough to stop this season.

THE GREAT TEAMS

4. Atlanta Brave Vawts (40-26) (Previous Week – 9)(Points = 80.54)
The Brave Vawts moved up five spots and are slowing beginning to get a big lead in the American League East. The team went 12-7 during the week scoring 108 runs for a 5.68 runs per game average while giving up 81 runs for a 4.26 runs per game average. The Brave Vawts for the season is scoring 5.14 runs per game while giving up 3.86 runs per game. It was a good week for Atlanta as they went 5-2 against teams in the top ten this week but the sweep of Houston was something now other team has done this season.

5. Santa Cruz Timber Rattlers (35-32) (Previous Week – 14)(Points = 73.51)
The Timber Rattlers moved up nine spots and had the most wins of any team this week. The team went 14-6 during the week scoring 111 runs for a 5.55 runs per game average while giving up 60 runs for a 3.00 runs per game average. The Timber Rattlers for the season is scoring 5.09 runs per game while giving up 3.96 runs per game. The team really showed this week how much great pitching can really improve a team in a hurry with 5 shutouts for the pitching during the last week and only giving up more the 6 runs three times.

6. San Diego Mafia (38-28) (Previous Week – 7)(Points = 67.10)
The Mafia moved up one spot and is now tied for the division lead with the Sting in what could be a great battle to the very end of the season. The team went 11-7 during week scoring 93 runs for a 5.17 runs per game average while giving up 68 runs for a 3.78 runs per game average. The Mafia for the season is scoring 6.00 runs per game while giving up 4.80 runs per game. The Mafia faced three division leaders during the last week going 5-5 against them with the Fisher Cats the only team that wasn't a division leader to beat them.

7. Kansas City Bobcats (38-29) (Previous Week – 12)(Points = 59.92)
The Bobcats moved up five spots and finally moved themselves off the 12th spot with another good week. The team went 12-7 during the week scoring 101 runs for a 5.32 runs per game average while giving up 76 runs for a 4.00 runs per game average. The Bobcats for the season is scoring 5.63 runs per game while giving up 4.81 runs per game. The team probably had the easinest schedule of any team in the top ten this week only playing one game against a team with a a winning record.

THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TEAMS

8. Anaheim Beefpound (36-30) (Previous Week – 10)(Points = 47.81)
The Beefpound moved up two spots but still find themselves in third place in the toughest division in the league the American League West. The team went 10-8 during the week scoring 97 runs for a 5.39 runs per game average while giving up 71 runs for a 3.94 runs per game average. The Beefpound for the season is scoring 5.42 runs per game while giving up 4.88 runs per game. The Beefpound have to be really happy with there record right now and with the team still trailing in the division it really seems like the team is motivated to win the division after a poor start.

9. Salem Gangstas (35-32) (Previous Week – 18)(Points = 45.95)
The Gangstas moved up nine spots with a great week and pushing the National League West to have the best record against teams outside there division. The team went 13-7 during the week scoring 104 runs for a 5.20 runs per game average while giving up 96 runs for a 4.80 runs per game average. The Gangstas for the season is scoring 5.01 runs per game while giving up 4.91 runs per game. The team really performed well in the close games this week going 6-1 in one-run games and is really the reason why the team jumped into the top ten this week.

10. Cincinnati Highlanders (36-30) (Previous Week – 11)(Points = 44.56)
The Highlanders moved up one spot after spending the last week out of the top ten in the eleventh spot. The Highlanders for the season are scoring 5.67 runs per game while giving up 4.98 runs per game. The team beat the teams they where suppose to beat this week going 8-5 against teams with a losing record but the flip side is that the team went 2-4 against teams with a winning record.
