Game of the Day 6-21-10

Game of the Day
Tacoma 4 - Columbus 0

Geronimo Seguignol: Seguignol pitched his first complete game shutout in his young career and picked up his first victory of the season. “My elbow is feeling great and I’m just happy to be pitching again,” Geronimo said.

Clutch Hits: The Buckeye Nuts had a great chance in the first inning with runners on second and third with two outs but Kid Greene flies out the right field to end the inning. In the bottom of the first inning the Saints had the bases loaded with two outs and Manny Hasegawa hits a single to score two runs.

They Also Played ...

Florida 4 - Salem 1: Herman Blair remains unbeaten on the season with a great 8 inning performance today.

Cincinnati 11 - Vancouver 6: Alex Lee has 40 RBI’s and 14 homeruns in only 33 games so far this season. Do you think the Hitmen are missing him?

Durham 6 - Anaheim 0: Alberto Sanchez pitches 8 strong innings and the Hitmen seem to be getting on track.

Monterrey 8 - Chicago 7: Clem Barkley crushes three homeruns with the last one being the game winner.

St. Louis 11 - New Britain 3: I think New Britain would like to go back Tacoma.

Minnesota 5 - Louisville 4: Darren Higginson is hitting .360 on the season. The greatest hitter in league history doesn’t seem to slowing down one bit.

Ottawa 7 - Jacksonville 4: It’s going to be a great race for MVP between Junior Lui of Ottawa and Alex Lee of Cincinnati. Lui is still hitting over .400 and has 52 RBI’s already.

Milwaukee 5 - Jackson 4: Nicholas Lowe hit the game winner but Benito Almanzar tied the game with a blast over the centerfield fence.

Boston 2 - Burlington 1: Nice job by the Bombers for allowing Boston to score only 2 runs but maybe you should ask the offense to join the game.

Charleston 10 - San Jose 9 (11): San Jose is in a bad slump. Could the teams reign of the National League West be over?

Portland 4 - Kansas City 3: It always hurts to see a pitcher pitch a complete game and lose. Better luck next start P.T. Bolton.

Game of the Day 6-17-10

Scranton 6 - Kansas City 3

Wish I was back in the National League: Wilson Fisher started his fifth game of the season and for the first time he didn’t take the lost. The problem for the 4-time Cy Young award winner is that he’s been awful so far this season; his 6.31 ERA is proof of that. Good news for Kansas City is that he gave up only 2 runs in 6 innings of work this game.

The Best: Scranton right now has the best record in the American League and with players like Wilfredo Velazquez, (who hit a two run blast during the game) the season could be the best in team history.

They Also Played...

Jacksonville 10 - Vancouver 9: There is no justice for Allen Justice. The sixth inning killed what was a nice pitching performance.

New Britain 5 - Salem 3: It took just about every Reliever to close out the game for New Britain but when you’re the hottest team in baseball, you could have a pitching machine out on the mound.

Ottawa 8 - Cincinnati 6: Someone better call the fire department because Junior Lui is on fire. 26 RBI’s in 21 games is record breaking pace if you ask me.

Iowa City 8 - San Jose 4: You don’t see a lead-off Catcher very often but is Miller Meacham truly a lead-off hitter after his 2 homerun game?

New York 7 - Charleston 4: What happened to Peter Webster? Once one of the best pitchers in the game, to barely able to hold a spot in the Charleston rotation, it’s been a tough four year stretch for him.

Philadelphia 13 - Florida 6: Scoring 13 runs is a nice way of getting your team out of a slump. Also playing at home can’t hurt either.

Arizona 10 - Louisville 3: Did you enjoy watching the game to much Nick Ball? Every starter got at least 2 hits, while you went 0-6. Reports said he had to buy the whole team a 12-pack to make up for it.

St. Louis 6 - Milwaukee 4: Ed “Moving on Up” Jefferson just keeps adding to his career save record. Can 500 or 600 saves for his career be possible?

Anaheim 5 - Cleveland 4: Does anyone remember when George “Dubya" Steinhacker thought Ajax Peavy was going to be something?

Columbus 6 - Chicago 2: I don’t think Chicago thought the team would be this bad. A nice rebuilding year seems to be in order.

Durham 10 - Dover 4: It’s good to see the Durham offense finally getting the bats going. Now if they played all there games at home, there would be nothing to worry about.

Portland 7 - Burlington 2: Watch out for Perry Glanville. Could be the next great power hitter in the league.

Tacoma 3 - Monterrey 0: Nice job by Wilfredo Villarreal for getting his first career complete game shutout.

Jackson 4 - Oklahoma City 2: You know your not having a good start to the season if you’re Pepper Gunderson. Getting booed from the home fans, when you entered the game has to be a clue.

Boston 6 - Minnesota 4: Darren Higginson is getting hot, now if Minnesota had some pitching, they could surprise a lot of teams this year.

Game of the Day 6-16-10

Game of the Day
Iowa City 3 - Monterrey 2

Brook Diaz: Diaz seems to have finally found the swing that once made him a great power hitter. With the Foxhounds down a run, Diaz crushed a two-run homerun off Norman Jordan. Reports say it was at least 500 feet as landed somewhere in the parking lot.

The Old-Timers game: The game was pitched by William Adcock (38) for the Foxhounds and Raymond Pavlov (33) for the Stars. Combined they have 305 victories, 669 games pitched as well. Both pitched well during the game but neither won got the victory.

They Also Played ...

Burlington 5 - Arizona 1: A quote from Bombers Mangment, "Objects in your mirror are closer than they appear.” A quote from the Arizona Sting management, “What the Hell is going on!”

Florida 6 - Milwaukee 5: It’s not very exciting to drive in the winning run from a sac fly but Dick Mancuso and the Sizzlers will take them anyway they can.

Ottawa 7 - Durham 1: Mark Brantley hasn’t pitched well so far this season but a complete, one run effort could be the start of something great for him. Are you thinking szekrenyi wishes he was back in Houston right now.

Columbus 6 - Salem 4: Salem tried to make a comeback in the ninth inning but it was too little. Perfect example as to why you need those insurance runs.

San Jose 5 - St. Louis 2: I’m still with you Hulk Hayes but you need to win a game soon.

New York 11 - Jackson 6: Told you New York would be scary with an offense.

Philadelphia 3 - Tacoma 1: Nice job by Philly to stop the Tacoma winning streak.

Anaheim 6 - Boston 2: Everything bad I said against Anaheim’s bullpen I take back. And Boston I think it’s time for Eddie Drew to be taken to the glue factory.

Scranton 10 - Vancouver 3: That guy who picked Scranton to win the American League North, I like that guy.

Cincinnati 3 - Portland 2: It was Kid Glove day at the ballpark in Portland today. Must have given the kid gloves to the players as well, because I’ve seen better fielding in little league.

Louisville 7 - Dover 6: Diego Valentin is making the team rethink there Rule-5 draft pick already. 1-3 with an error close to 10 will make manager very unhappy.

New Britain 5 - Oklahoma City 2: Told you not to panic in New Britain, I knew the team would turn around.

Charleston 8 - Chicago 5: Well someone had to win the game.

Kansas City 4 - Minnesota 1: Jeremi Selby has started two games and is now 2-0 on the season. Why did it take so long to get him in the rotation Kansas City?

Jacksonville 5 - Cleveland 1: Have you ever seen a player that was this happy to leave Tacoma then Tommy Mientkiewicz?
